On October 27th, Governor DeSantis issued an Executive Order calling for special elections in Senate District 33 and House Districts 88 and 94. The primary election will be held on January 22, 2022 and the general election on March 8, 2022, meaning all three seats will remain vacant during the 2022 legislative session. Senator Perry Thurston formerly represented Senate District 33. House District 88 was previously held by Representative Omari Hardy (D-Mangonia Park) and District 94 by Bobby DuBose (D-Ft. Lauderdale). All three men resigned to run for Congress after Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings died, leaving his seat vacant.
