During these times of staying and working at home, I certainly have appreciated going back to the basics. Thank you to the Orange County Regional History Center for posting a ‘pioneer recipe’ on their Facebook page and to my neighbor for letting me pick her oranges. Early settlers of Florida figured out how to utilize the bounty of Florida citrus to create delicious recipes, one being this sour orange pie. Sour oranges are an orange varietal that are a key ingredient in mojo, the savory Cuban marinade.
In this pioneering spirit in these unusual times, I tried this recipe with great success. It is similar in texture to a lemon meringue pie, but has a different sour taste. I highly recommend trying this ‘Pandemic Pie’. I have just one slice left….
We send wishes for good health to you these days.
