The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris showcased over 10,000 athletes from 206 countries participating in over 329 events. Our State of Florida saw 50 athletes go to Paris this year for both the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games – and even brought home some hardware! University of Florida athletes (current and alumnae) brought home four gold, four silver and three bronze. University of Central Florida athlete Viktorija Senkute won a bronze in women’s rowing. Caeleb Dressel, the UF alumnus swimmer from Green Cove Springs, won the most medals this year – two gold and one silver. All told, over a dozen Olympians with ties to Florida won medals. The Paralympic games were also played in Paris with seven athletes from Florida competing. To see the list, go here.
Congratulations to ALL of the athletes from Florida who represented the USA in Paris. We are already counting down the days until 2028 in Los Angeles!
