Tim Beard The Florida A&M University Board of Trustees named retired Pasco-Hernando State College President Tim Beard to serve as interim president. President Larry Robinson resigned on July 12th after seven years leading the oldest public historically black college and university (HBCU) in Florida and the and top-ranked public HBCU in the country.
Kent Fuchs The University of Florida (UF) has selected Kent Fuchs, who served as president of UF from 2015-2023, as its interim president. Ben Sasse, the former U.S. Senator from Nebraska, resigned after 17 months as president.
The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities State Executives Bob Boyd, president and chair of Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida, was chosen as vice chair of the national association.
Renner Appointments House Speaker Paul Renner (R-Palm Coast) made the following appointments: Gayle Garrison to the Florida Council on Arts and Culture; Greg Peters to the Florida Faith-based & Community-based Advisory Council; Ricky Caplin to the Health Care Innovation Council; Robert Spottswood to the Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council; and Paul Bain to the Florida Commission on Ethics.
Veterans Florida Board of Directors Appointed were State Senator Jay Collins (R-Tampa) and State Representative Danny Alvarez (R- Riverview) as ex-officio members of the Veterans Florida Board of Directors.
