Enterprise Florida Jamal Sowell has stepped down as CEO as he prepares for special training with the U.S. Navy Reserve. A replacement has not been named.
Flagler College John Delaney has been selected as the college’s fifth president. He previously served as president of the University of North Florida. Delaney has been interim president of Flagler since July, following Joseph Joyner’s retirement.
Florida Retirement System Ashbel “Ash” Williams retired on October 1st as head of the State Board of Administration. He has spent over 18 years working for the state, the last 13 managing the investments for the Florida Retirement System. Under his leadership, the FRS recently reached a quarter of a trillion dollars and earned a credit rating of AAA. Lamar Taylor has been named interim executive director and chief investment officer. Taylor has been with the SBA since 2002, most recently serving as chief operating and chief financial officer.
Florida Senate The Republican Caucus of the Florida Senate selected Kathleen Passidomo (R-Naples) as their next leader for the 2022-24 term. She made history as the third woman and second Republican woman to lead the chamber.
Governor’s Race State Senator Annette Taddeo (D-Miami) filed to run for Governor on October 18th. Taddeo joins a list of Democratic candidates that includes U.S. Representative and former Governor Charlie Crist and Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. Taddeo ran as lieutenant governor for Crist when he ran unsuccessfully against Rick Scott in 2014.
U.S. Department of Education Former U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Graham was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the department’s assistant secretary for legislation and congressional affairs.
