MARIJUANA ID CARDS Both chambers have introduced bills which would allow reciprocity for individuals who hold identification cards from other states to use medical marijuana in Florida.
HEMP PROGRAM Three bills have been filed, including one by the Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, to develop a hemp program under the direction of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried has advocated for such a program, which is strongly supported by North Florida farmers.
ASSIGNMENT OF BENEFITS Senate Banking & Insurance Chair Doug Broxson (R-Gulf Breeze) filed legislation aimed at limiting attorney fees in cases involving the insurance practice known as assignment of benefits. Commissioner of Insurance Regulation David Altmaier strongly supports reform.
DIAPERS For the second year in a row, Senator Lauren Book (D-Plantation) has filed a bill that would exempt diapers and incontinence undergarments from sales tax.
