GUN DEFECT A Brazilian gun manufacturer has agreed to a $38 million class action settlement. A Florida judge has given preliminary approval to the settlement. The class action claimed the guns had a defect which may cause them to discharge in the event the gun was dropped.
GROW YOUR OWN The First District Court of Appeal has overruled the determination of a Leon County judge concerning the personal cultivation of marijuana. A Tampa man requested permission to grow his own plants for juicing purposes which he believes helps combat his lung cancer. The district court determined personal cultivation was not allowed under the Florida Constitution.
MEDICAL MARIJUANA Medical marijuana company Trulieve has settled its suit against the Department of Health and will be permitted to operate up to 44 dispensaries throughout the state. The suit spawned over a law that set the number of dispensaries each medical marijuana treatment center can open by the number of patients on the medical cannabis registry. A circuit judge ruled earlier this year that the cap was unconstitutional.
