HURRICANE UPDATE To date, the Office of Insurance Regulation estimates losses from Hurricanes Debby ($131 million), Helene ($1.99 billion), and Milton ($3.33 billion). Uninsured losses drive the total figures much higher. The National Flood Insurance Program estimates losses from Hurricane Helene at $7 billion and $2.5 billion from Hurricane Milton. Agricultural losses are estimated to be between $134 million and $425 million from Hurricanes Helene and Debby. Information from Hurricane Milton’s losses are still being gathered, but Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson estimates losses could total $2.5 billion. FEMA warns residents of post-disaster fraud and scams such as impersonation of inspectors, fraudulent letters and phone calls. AMERICA’S 250th Governor DeSantis signed an executive order in recognition of America’s Semiquincentennial Celebration. Two divisions of the Florida Department of State and an advisory commission will organize America’s 250th anniversary in 2026 through exhibits, events and activities that teach about the Declaration of Independence, the Revolutionary War, the U.S. Constitution and honor veterans and promote the importance of self-government. |
