INVASIVE LIZARDS The Peter’s rock agama lizard (which some Floridians keep as pets) have spread to Central Florida and are squeezing out the population of the brown anole lizard. When mosquitoes bite the brown anole lizard they are less likely to bite humans, possibly lowering the risk for mosquito-borne illness.

FREE SWIMMING LESSONS Following legislation passed this year, the Florida Swimming Lesson Voucher Program within the Department of Health was launched in September. Free swimming lessons are available to families who have children aged 4 and under and with incomes under the 200 percent federal poverty level.
