Bill Hager Former Republican State Representative Bill Hager died on October 13th in North Dakota at the age of 74. Before living in Florida, Hager served as Insurance Commissioner of Iowa. He moved to Florida in 1990 and served as deputy mayor of the City of Boca Raton from 2004-05. Hager served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010-18, representing part of Palm Beach County.
Colin Powell U.S. Army General Colin Powell died on October 18th. A trailblazer, Powell was the first Black national security advisor to President Ronald Reagan, the first Black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush and the first Black U.S. Secretary of State under President George W. Bush. Powell had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and died of complications of COVID-19 despite being vaccinated. He was 84.
