Charles B. Reed Charles Reed, a former chancellor of Florida’s public university system, passed away in Tallahassee on December 6th at the age of 75. Dr. Reed served as Governor Bob Graham’s chief of staff from 1984-1985 and took over the university system in 1985. He left Florida in 1998 to become chancellor of California’s State University System, returning to Tallahassee after he retired in 2012. Dr. Reed made a huge impact on higher education systems in Florida and California during his career. We will miss him.
