Alan Becker Former Democratic State Representative Alan Becker died July 4th at his home in Southwest Ranches. Becker was an assistant public defender before becoming the youngest person elected to the Florida House in 1972 at age 26. He served three terms and sponsored many condominium association laws. He was co-founder of the Becker & Poliakoff law firm. Becker was 74.
Wayne Mixson Former Democratic Lieutenant Governor Wayne Mixson died on July 8th at his home in Tallahassee at the age of 98. Mixson was elected to the state House in 1967 and serve as lieutenant governor to Governor Bob Graham from 1979 to 1987. He served three days as Governor when Graham resigned to serve in the U.S. Senate. Mixson was appointed by President Jimmy Carter in 1979 as a Special Ambassador to Ecuador. He is survived by his wife Margie Grace.
