Below are bills that passed this legislative session:
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS A prescription drug importation program that would have to be approved by the federal government passed both chambers. The bill was sponsored by Representative Tom Leek (R-Daytona Beach) and was a priority for Governor DeSantis.
STATE EMPLOYEE INSURANCE The Legislature made a few changes to the state employee insurance program including authorizing the state to limit the number of HMOs in the program and allowing the plans to be competitively procured on a regional basis. Prescription drugs will be more readily available with the end of the prohibition of a prior authorization or formulary program.
LOTTERY This bill would have required a warning label be printed on lottery games. Governor DeSantis vetoed this bill.
BLIND TRUST Both chambers unanimously approved legislation that will prohibit public officials from placing their assets in blind trusts. Former Governor Rick Scott put his assets in a blind trust while he was in office. As a result, he did not have to publicly disclose his specific investments and business interests as most public officials do under financial disclosure laws. Governor DeSantis signed this bill into law on June 4th.
